The St. Louis Cardinals pulled off a Miracle on the Mississippi Thursday night.
St. Louis tried to claw its way back into the game when Allen Craig homered in the bottom of the eighth. The Cards eventually loaded the bases before Texas reliever Mike Adams quelled the uprising without further damage.

Having dodged that bullet, the Cards came up in their half of the first and immediately established a 2 1 lead, combining a one out Skip Schumaker single with a two out, first pitch home run by Berkman off Texas starter Colby Lewis, who worked into the sixth inning allowing just three hits.
Not to worry, Cardinals faithful. In the bottom of the 10th, they scored two more runs. In that rally, once again, the Cards were down to their last strike when Lance Berkman singled into centre field to score John Jay to knot it up at 9 9.
without damage in the top of the 11th, Freese led off the bottom of the inning with a game winning walk off homer off reliever Mark Lowe, his fifth long ball of the postseason.
"It's not that easy to win a World Series, as we found out tonight," said Texas manager Ron Washington. "You have to give (the Cards) credit. They battled, they fought and twice we had them down to the last pitch and they beat us."
"There were times out there when I felt like I was in a circus act but this is the kind of game that defines our team. We've been bucking the odds for a long time."
Down by two runs in the ninth inning of Game 6, with the Texas Rangers one strike away from the first World Series title in their 51 year history, the Cardinals rallied from a 7 5 deficit on a two run triple by David Freese.
Once again, Garcia got himself into immediate trouble in the second with a walk to No. 7 hitter Mike Napoli and a single by Craig Gentry in the 8 hole. Adidas Los Angeles Woven Lewis laid down a bunt in the obvious sacrifice situation but it went directly to third baseman David Freese, who fired to get Napoli at third. Furcal relayed to first to double up Lewis. That proved big for the Cards when Kinsler drilled a ground rule double, scoring just one run instead of two or three.
The Cards got sloppy in the field in the fourth inning and it cost them a run and the lead. Nelson Cruz popped up into short left field leading off but shortstop Furcal and leftfielder Holliday both backed off at the last second and the ball clanked off Holliday's glove for a two base error.
Yet another St. Louis error led to Texas's go ahead run in the fifth. Freese dropped a routine pop up off the bat of Hamilton and Hamilton scored on Young's double to the wall in left centre.
"We've had some games that were kind of like this but nothing, really even close," said Cardinals manager Tony La Russa. "What happened here today . well, you had to be here to believe it. Our dugout was alive every minute of the game. A lot of times in this game it doesn't work. But sometimes it does."
"It's an unbelievable feeling," said Freese, who had made an embarrassing error on a routine pop up earlier in the game.
As a result, the Cardinals beat the Texas Rangers 10 9 and now live to fight one more day in this World Series that is going to a seventh game at Busch Stadium Friday night.
In the bottom of the fourth, St. Louis tied the score, this time courtesy of a Texas error. Berkman led off and hit a ground ball to Young at first he dove and stopped the ball and relayed to Lewis covering but Lewis missed the bag with his tag. Berkman later scored on a Yadier Molina groundout.
In this stunning Cardinals win, a sloppily played contest that featured five errors and 12 walks, combined, between the two teams, the Rangers broke a 4 4 tie in the seventh inning when Adrian Beltre and Nelson Cruz hit back to back solo home runs to put Texas ahead 6 4. The Adidas Primeknit Low
St. Louis starter Jaime Garcia got off to a rocky start, walking leadoff man Ian Kinsler, then allowing back to back singles by Elvis Andrus and Hamilton to stake the Rangers to a 1 0 lead before anyone was out in the first.
Rangers later scored again in the seventh to take a three run lead.
Just as quickly, Garcia righted the ship, stranding the two runners by striking out Young and Beltre before getting an inning ending groundout to third.
Not just one miracle. Two of them.
when Josh Hamilton stepped up to the plate in the top of the 10th and crashed a party pooping two run homer to once again give Texas a two run lead, 9 7.
Napoli followed with an RBI single that landed right on the foul line in right field. Later in the inning, when Lewis once again tried to sacrifice, Napoli was safe at second on a wild throw but suffered a shin injury. After a moment to walk it off, he remained in the game.
